About

“It is through the tender austerity of our troubles that the Son of Man comes knocking. In every event He seeks an entrance to my heart, yes, even in my most helpless, futile, fruitless moments. The very cracks and empty crannies of my life, my perplexities and hurts and botched-up jobs, He wants to fill with Himself, His joy, His life…”

~Elisabeth Elliot

Hello!

I’m Amelia, a Jesus follower who’s married to the love of my life, Steven. We married in 2009, and blended both our families.

We know the joys and struggles of walking out life as a blended family. We have 6 kids and 9 grandchildren! I love spending time in my study, pouring over Scripture, reading and enjoying my quiet space!

My roots

I’m a Georgia girl from birth, and I love all things Southern (including the blistering heat and humidity of summers in the South)!  Steve and I are avid Auburn University fans and the ocean is my “happy place!

My writing and my journey

I’ve loved writing most of my life, as I observed my Mother, while a full-time homemaker, spending lots of time on her non-electric typewriter as she created neighborhood newsletters, fliers for our school events or other ways she could encourage others in her writing. I’m currently writing a book for women, Waiting for the Blossom: Gospel Hope in Uncertainty.

I homeschooled my 3 children for 18 years, then as my youngest started high school, I was asked to teach in a local faith-based school. I spent the next 6 years teaching kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade. I retired in 2010 to come along side my 3 bonus boys in their learning struggles and work with their teachers as they moved through elementary, middle and high school.

My favorites (just a few!)
  • first cup of hot coffee in the morning
  • getting my hands in the dirt, gardening(more on that on my Gardening Tips)
  • spending time with our kids and grandkids
  • traveling with my husband Steve
  • reading (although I usually have several books I’m reading at the same time)
  • music of just about every genre

I long to come alongside you, dear friend; offering a hand of hope, gospel hope, in the daily joys and struggles of our faith journeys.

Blessings,

Amelia
